Sony has finally announced the release date for a variety of highly anticipated features for its
PlayStation Vita console. Firmware update 1.80 is officially prepared to launch on August 28, 2012. The new version will bring the following updates and features to the handheld:
-
original PlayStation title support (finally!)
-
ability to control your PS3 from the Vita for applications such as video and music playback
-
Cross Play support added for upcoming games (PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, Street fighter x Tekken, etc.)
The official list of original Playstation games being supported by this update has not been revealed. One would expect that it will include some of the more historic titles such as Final Fantasy VII. Additional game support will be added as time goes on, but at least this ball is finally rolling.
