Mad Catz prepares to drop the bomb...

Gamers get ready! The time is finally upon us as Mad Catz is preparing to drop a bomb on the industry both literally and figuratively. The Tritton Warhead is armed and ready to deploy. Gamers, including myself, have been waiting a long time for this product as it has been shown at industry shows and events for more than a year.

This isn’t your normal headset; this is the mack-daddy of all headsets. Designed specifically for use with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 (although it can be used for audio on other consoles), the Warhead boasts full 7.1 surround sound support along with a wide variety of features including:

• officially licensed for the Xbox 360
• first 3rd party headset to offer wireless connectivity for chat over Xbox Live
• ability to communicate information via the 360 consoles including battery levels
• utilizes 5.8GHz wireless technology for communication with base
• includes dual rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries to ensure you are always operational
• each battery provides 12 hours of gaming between charges
• designed to rest over user’s ears and not on them

The Warhead will begin shipping for orders made directly through the GameShark store next week and it should make it’s way to retailers later this year. I can’t speak in detail about their performance. That information will have to wait until the embargo on the headset lifts next Tuesday, but I will say this: expect our full review of this impressive product on Tuesday, August 7 at 9 a.m. EST.
