Konami and developer Mercury Steam really rocked the boat in rebooting the Castlevania franchise with Lords of Shadow. The new vision of the classic took it to all new levels. Mercury Steam seems to think that can do it again with another classic Konami franchise.
Speaking in an interview with VG24/7, Dave Cox of Mercury Steam says that his crew would love to get their hands on the Contra series. ACcording to Cox, “I love Contra. I’d love to do Contra. At Mercury Steam we’ve got an original idea that I think is really awesome.” The studio is hoping that a successful sequel to Lords of Shadows will open up the opportunity for them to move on to the shooter series.
We have seen a variety of Contra games over the past 20 years, including Arc System Works recent take on the series; I wonder what Mercury Steam has in mind for the Contra series.
