LOS ANGELES (June 19, 2012) – Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, announced that Chris Ballew provides the score for the upcoming first-person environmental puzzle game, Quantum Conundrum™.
Chris is the twice Grammy nominated songwriter and lead singer for the four times platinum rock and roll band The Presidents of the United States of America. He now writes songs for kids under the name Caspar Babypants, who makes high quality, thoughtful, acoustic sing-along songs for parents and kids of all ages to enjoy together.
“I like making music for kids because I admire their inventive imaginations, and as an adult I nurture that same creativity in myself,” said Chris Ballew. “The gameplay, humor and art style in Quantum Conundrum embodies that same sentiment.”
“Chris was our top choice to score Quantum Conundrum,” said Tom Smurdon, audio director for Quantum Conundrum at Airtight Games. “The team wanted someone who would be fun and quirky and would really fit the style of the game. He's a ton of fun to work with and all of that comes through in the music he writes.”
Developed by Airtight Games, Quantum Conundrum is now available for pre-order on Steam® for Windows PC. The game will be available on June 21 for PC and later this summer on the PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Quantum Conundrum is rated E for Everyone with Comic Mischief. Please visit the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website at www.esrb.org for more information about ratings.
About Quantum Conundrum
In Quantum Conundrum, players take on the role of a young kid dropped off on his uncle’s doorstep for the weekend; his uncle just so happens to be the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. Upon entering the Professor’s vast manor home retrofitted with crazy technology to test his latest hypotheses, players quickly realize their uncle has gone missing. Fortunately, players soon gain access to Professor Quadwrangle’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, which, at the press of a button, will shift the world around them to an entirely new dimension. In order to find him, players must use the newly found IDS Device to dynamically change the world to and from a variety of different dimensions to progress through the complicated Quadwrangle Manor. While on the journey, becoming adept at utilizing the various dimensions will help them trek from one bizarre and challenging room to the next. It might sound easy enough, but it is a tall order for a kid in a giant puzzle of a manor!
