Quadrwangle Productions and Square-Enix have a pretty clever way of marketing their upcoming dimension-shifting action platformer, Quantum Conundrum. As you might have heard the game is being designed by Kim Swift, team lead on Portal, but the game is also being advertised with retro PSA-style videos that resemble old videotape recovered from the 90s or something. The first video goes into the concept of time, how it is relative, and how that all goes out the window once you get full control over time in the game.
I'm really curious about this one. I love dimension-twisting puzzlers like the stuff in Portal, but I quickly tired of GlaDOS and her passive-aggressive whining constantly interrupting the puzzles. In any case, these games show what is possible when developers think outside the ultra-realistic CoD-box and realize "this is video game land. I'm not constrained by the laws of physics. I can do whatever the hell I want."

Premiere Video Explores How Quantum Conundrum’s IDS Device Grants Control Over Time Itself Utilizing Newtonian Definitions and Powerful Exceptions to the Laws of Physics

It seems that someone, somewhere has stumbled across some old, educational videos that were made to help explain how the laws of physics not only govern our world with rock steady consistency, but also how they can be bent (or even broken) if properly addressed with futuristic technology. This is fortunate, because now I am able to share these videos with you and your readers!
As you know, the Interdimensional Shift Device (IDS), available in-game when you play Quantum Conundrum later this summer, is just such a piece of futuristic technology. The IDS empowers you to have – at your fingertips – total control over several dimensions… when, where and how you use them will be entirely up to you. Suffice to say, you will need to learn the ins-and-outs of each of these dimensions (and combinations therein) in order to overcome some incredible challenges in Quadwrangle Manor.
And this is where these helpful videos come in. The first video – entitled “TIME” – will help you understand the unbreakable principals and theories behind what we understand as time so that you can shatter them with the IDS.
