Despite the fact that a Starbreeze is buying out the developer, Overkill Software has confirmed that they will continue moving forward with their current projects as planned. Among those projects currently in development: a sequel to
Payday: The Heist.
Mikael Nermark, head honcho at Starbreeze, recently confirmed to
Eurogamer that his company intends on letting Overkill continue to do the things they do, and that includes the continuation of their recently launched cooperative shooter. If you haven’t played it yet, Payday: The Heist was released last year on both the PC and PlayStation Network and plays something like a combination of Left 4 Dead and the classic cops / robbers drama Heat. I
reviewed the game last November and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
I cannot wait to see what the developer has in store for the next iteration of the series. Perhaps we can hope that it will spread to the XBLA as well and expand on the great foundation already laid by the first game!
