If you have been playing Minion Masters it may interest you to know that the game has changed with an update. David Steinwedel states that the focus of the update was all around movement "We've significantly changed and upgraded how the figurines can move across the board, added synergies between tiles and Minions, and introduced real world mechanics, like shooting farther from up high. All of this makes the game more fun, challenging, and realistic," Movements now have a cost which will make it harder to travel across rough terrain.
The other update is Tile bonuses which will give players boosts on specific terrain like plains giving boosts to Knights and lava giving boosts to Dragon

For Immediate Release Minion Master Alpha 1.0.3a Released
Third Release in as Many Months Focused on Movement, Puts Minion Master on the Fast Track
Berkeley, CA -- May 1st, 2012. Today, BitFlip Games released the latest iteration of Minion Master to its Alpha community, the third update since revealing the game at this year's Game Developer's Conference. Having taken the Minecraft-inspired Alpha-Funding route, Minion Master has started to grow a small and dedicated community around its unique gameplay.
Today's release is focused all around movement. "We've significantly changed and upgraded how the figurines can move across the board, added synergies between tiles and Minions, and introduced real world mechanics, like shooting farther from up high. All of this makes the game more fun, challenging, and realistic," said David Steinwedel, BitFlip's Executive Producer.
Each type of tile now has a movement cost, making it harder for Minions to travel across rough terrain like swamp than easy terrain like plains. In addition, climbing in elevation will slow a Minion down.
To get around the new movement rules, the team has added Teleportation. Minions can now be instantly flung across the board regardless of how far they can move or what type of terrain is in the way. Other teleportation options include warping farther but losing a turn or sending Enemies off to the end of the board (while giving that Enemy a bonus of some sort).
Tile Bonuses have also been added to Minion Master. "Plains will give a bonus to Knights on a horse," said Guy Somberg, Technical Director. "We've tried to make bonuses very intuitive. Dragons get a boost on lava, Archers in the forest, and so on." Minions may receive increased Attack or Defense ratings, as well as other potential debuffs for being on dangerous terrain.
Finally, the team has added range bonuses based on elevation. "When a ranged attacker is up high, they should be able to shoot farther," said David, "it just makes sense."
