It has been rumored, teased, and even leaked through Xbox Live, but Sega is finally making it official. Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 2 will launch on May 16, 2012. The game will be released for the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network for $14.99 / 1200 MSP.
The new game will also be hitting a variety of mobile platforms in the months after the console release including iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, though the specific dates have not been confirmed.
Sega has also announced a small promotion for Sonic fans who purchased the original episode and intend on getting part 2. Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode Metal will be offered as a special, unlockable story to players who purchase Episodes 1 and 2 on the same platform. This special adventure will bridge the gap (storyline wise) between Sonic CD and Sonic 4, Episode 2. It will be available on all platforms that Episode 2 will be appearing on.
