Harmonix has taken a year off or so after producing
Rock Band 3. Today
on X-Play, they announced their latest creation,
Rock Band Blitz.
It's something a little different from the team. First of all, it's going to be a downloadable game on the PS3 and 360. It's primarily a single player game and you use the controller rather than any instrument.
The view has you racing down a track and you'll be able to switch between the various instrument tracks. It's fast and has some similarities to Amplitude.
One cool thing is that all the songs out there now will work with the game, so if you're like Cyril and have amassed a ton of songs over the years, you'll get to use them in Blitz. Songs made for Blitz will also work in the regular Rock Band games as well. 25 songs will be shipped with Blitz initially.
Rock Band Blitz seems to be a game at a much smaller scale from Harmonix, and it is something different. I'd like to hear what fans of the company and Rock Band think of this. It might be something you won't know if you like or not until you get your hands on it.
Look for Rock Band Blitz this summer on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 via their respective stores.
