Although it was leaked back in January, Epic Mickey 2 is “officially official" as of today. Disney has announced a sequel to Epic Mickey. This time around, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is hitting more than just the Nintendo Wii, but the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well. The sequel has been rumored continuously over the past year and is now official.
Junction Point Studios is once again at the helm of the project with Warren Specter leading the design. While the game looks very similar to the first one, albeit in gorgeous HD, this time around players will be playing through a musical. Yes, I said “musical”.
Epic Mickey 2 also puts a heavy focus on cooperative play on all platforms, teaming Mickey Mouse up with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, as he returns to Wasteland. Although the game is designed with two players in mind, it is offline only. Each of the characters has access to unique abilities and powers which will require them to work together to succeed. Although there is no official word on Kinect support as of yet, the PlayStation Move peripheral will definitely be supported, making it more akin to the Wii original.
The game is being planned for a September launch; you can check out the game’s announcement trailer below, courtesy of VG247:
