United Front Games and
Square Enix London Studios have released a new trailer for their upcoming sandbox action game
Sleeping Dogs, previously known as True Crime: Hong Kong. This is the first glimpse of footage from the game's engine, which looks rather impressive from the neon-lit streets to the highly detailed character models. Gamers will be placed in the role of Wei Shen, an undercover cop who is challenged with bringing down the Sun Oh Yee triad. The fighting system incorporates an innovative system that allows for a variety of martial art moves along with the use of environmental takedowns. As someone that never tires of open world games, I'm quite excited to be booking my ticket to digital Hong Kong in the near future.
In addition to the trailer, make sure to take a look at the recently revealed box art for Sleeping Dogs. I'm glad that more developers and publishers are beginning to embrace departures from traditional box art design. The color scheme, bold lines, and hand-drawn visual style combine for an impressive design.
Sleep Dogs will be available in the second half of 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.
