If you have a paid EVE Online account as of 11:59pm GMT on December 31st, 2011, CCP will be launching you into orbit at the EVE Online Fanfest 2012. Confused? Yeah, I was to when I first saw the news post in my inbox. Basically, the character names and images of every player character subscribed at the end of 2011 will be placed in a crafted EVE Pod during the yearly Iceland celebration. That pod will be affixed to a high-altitude balloon during the event and released, "reverse planetary bombardment style", whatever that means.
The balloon will travel to altitudes of over 100,000 feet, and a camera will record the boyage of all EVE capsuleers as they crest the curve of the planet. This is being done as a thank you to players for being a part of the EVE Online. The trailer below is of DUST 514, a PS3-exclusive persistent shooter set in the player driven universe of EVE Online.
