A recent Disney
newsletter, which has since been mysteriously edited, talks pretty openly about an
Epic Mickey sequel coming to the Wii, PS3 and 360 next year. According to the newsletter the sequel will feature 2-player co-op, with Mickey using the magic paintbrush again while the second player controls Mickey's long lost "brother" from the first game, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who has flight and electricity powers.
I'm surprised the sequel is coming to Wii and not Wii U, considering the 360 and PS3 versions will be in HD, and the fact that the Wii is pretty much dead in the water right now. That said, I'm just not very interested in an Epic Mickey 2. The first game was rather disappointing, especially with legendary developer Warren Spector headed the project. I have great respect for the man (he created System Shock and Deus Ex after all) and I know he has a lot of enthusiasm for Disney's vintage animation, but I wish he was working on something a little more cyberpunk. Why doesn't Disney put this guy in charge of future Tron games? If Spector can dream up Deus Ex, imagine what he could do with Tron. Now that would be pretty amazing.
