If you were looking forward to Episode 2 of
Sonic the Hedgehog 4, you'll have to get it on something besides the Wii. Nintendo Everything
is reporting that Sega Brand Manager Ken Balough stated on the company's forums that Sonic 4 wouldn't be seeing any more releases on Wii.
This is pretty disappointing considering Sonic 4 Episode 1 was released on the platform but I understand their reasons. Aside from the recent Zelda Skyward Sword and hopefully the remaining Operation Rainfall titles, the Wii is pretty much a dead system at this point. I've been covering Nintendo platforms for a few years and it's frustrating but Nintendo typically abandons their last-gen hardware late in its life, at least software-wise, in favor of shifting focus to the next big thing, which in this case is Wii U. 3rd parties typically follow suit and I can't really blame Sega for reading the writing on the wall. Just make sure you have another console if you want to keep playing Sonic 4's episodic installments.
