WorldofTanks.com gets an upgrade
With the recent influx of players it was only a matter of time before Wargaming.net upgraded the
official website for
World of Tanks. The new website aims to be the central hub for the game's extensive community, and will feature fan content areas, a redesigned interface and other new features to track your progress in the game.
I think this web-based community scheme is a lot more elegant than the many proprietary subscriptions that the big publishers keep foisting on gamers. EA Origin, Call of Duty Elite and Games for Windows are all kind of a pain in the butt and having to sign up for some of them just to play the latest game in a series legitimately sucks. Separating the community aspects into a standalone website and giving gamers the choice to sign up or not is a much friendlier solution, especially when you consider that most of these big publisher services are just a backhanded, unwieldy attempt to cut down on piracy that punish honest paying customers.
World of Tanks Website Gets Upgraded
London, UK, Paris, FR and San Francisco, CA (10th November, 2011) — Wargaming.net, the award-winning global videogame publisher and developer, announces the launch of the brand new website for their world-famous action MMO World of Tanks.
The new website available at www.worldoftanks.eu (Europe) and www.worldoftanks.com (North America) will become a global platform combining a vast community section, comprehensive art and fan content areas, and a full-fledged Ultimate Conquest interface, all united under single design with much improved navigation and enhanced productivity.
“Developing the new website took quite a while, and we are truly glad to finally launch it,” said Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi. “The design you are seeing now will become the foundation for the three-in-one "World of" web platform.”
World of Tanks is the first and only team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare. Throw yourself into the epic tank battles of World War II with other steel cowboys all over the world. Your arsenal includes more than 150 armored vehicles from America, Germany, and the Soviet Union, carefully detailed with historical accuracy.
A flexible system of authentic vehicle upgrade and development allows you to try any of the vehicles and weapons in the game. Whether you prefer to exhaust your foes with fast and maneuverable light tanks, make deep breaches in enemy lines with all-purpose medium tanks, use the force of giant tanks to eliminate opposing armored forces, or become a heavy sniper with long-range howitzers, each unit type has its own advantages and can be extremely effective when operated by a true tank ace.
But being a great tank commander alone isn't enough to win! In World of Tanks, it's all about teamwork. Victory is achieved by combining your combat skills with those of the other members of your team, each playing their own role on the battlefield. Just add your favorite strategy to build your own steel empire and manifest the indisputable authority of the tank power!
