Sega shows some holiday cheer for the 3DS

More On: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Sonic Generations Crush3D Shinobi
While the 3DS is still plagued by some...questionable hardware issues, its software drought is finally over. Sega is contributing 4 major titles over the next few months. November 15th will see the arrival of the new Shinobi game (Shinobi's back!), picking up a series that has been hibernating for a while. Crush3D will be getting a 3DS re-working on January 10th, and then of course there are two Sonic games.

I'm already excited for Sonic Generations 3DS as it's a completely different game than its console big brothers, but...Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games? The Mario Sonic Olympics thing has always mystified me. It's such a weird, out-of-character mashup of competitive sports and classic game mascots, and I have no idea why it sells so well. Maybe it got swept up in the casual sports game fad on the Wii, but that's all over now and I think the series has outstayed its welcome.

I care less and less every time a new one is announced, much like the annual Mario Party churn-outs that got worse and worse every year. It's time for Mario and Sonic to stop flirting, as it were, over Olympic competitions and just star in that massive crossover adventure game that everyone actually wants. Lets get these guys back into videogame land where they belong, without skis or torches or hundred-meter dashes where they somehow stand an equal chance of winning.
