Major Nelson posted on his
blog today that the first piece of
Gears of War 3 DLC will hit XBL on November 1st. Called the
Horde Command Pack, it adds three new maps to Gears' awesome Horde Mode called
Blood Drive,
Rustlung, and
Azura. It also comes with new fortification upgrades. A new command center upgrade will allow players to call in snipers, mortar strikes, or even call the Hammer of Dawn down upon the enemies' heads. You'll also get a decoy upgrade that turns your decoy into an Onyx Guard, a sentry upgrade that adds fire bolt ammo to deal extra damage (especially to Berserkers), and finally a Silverback upgrade that allows players to add rockets and reduce its repair cost. Furthermore, the
Horde Command Pack will add new characters (Onyx Guard, Big Rig Dizzy, Bernie), and new weapon skins (team plasma, jungle camo). The pack will run you 800 MSP (that's $10.00 in big boy money) unless you've purchased the
Gears of War 3 season pass, then you get a 33% discount (how generous).
I love
Gears of War 3 Horde 2.0 as much as the next guy, but not enough to spend 10 bucks for a grand total of three maps and a handful of other completely unnecessary add-ons.
