Someone got a little too anxious over at Capcom HQ yesterday when they released the
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 information; the initial batch of art that was sent out contained the character designs for all 12 additional characters, not just the 4 announced yesterday. As a result, we now know the entire lineup of characters heading to the game this November.
The roster will include:
-
Doctor Strange: The good Doctor made his first Marvel appearance way back in 1963 in issue #110 of Strange Tales. Considered to be one of the elite characters in the Marvel Universe, Doctor Strange possesses a mastery of magic and a reputation of being the strongest sorcerer in the universe.
-
Firebrand: Firebrand was originally featured as an enemy in the original Ghosts N Goblins game but later went on to star in his own series (Gargoyle’s Quest) and has made various appearances in a few Capcom fighting games.
-
Frank West: The original Dead Rising hero is back at the behest of fans. After an incredible appearance in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Frank is back to show that he has the chops to hang in the fighting game world.
-
Ghost Rider: Johnny Blaze himself, the original Ghost Rider, made his Marvel debut back in 1972 in Marvel Spotlight #5. A former stunt daredevil, Ghost Rider is a tortured sole who was demonized by the evil Mephisto.
-
Hawkeye: Hawkeye originated in Marvel Comics’ 1964 Tales of Suspense #57. Originally introduced as a villain for Iron Man, Hawkeye would go on to become a hero and join the forces of the Avengers after being recruited by Captain America.
-
Iron Fist: Iron Fist debuted in Marvel Comics’ Marvel Premiere #15 in 1974. A skilled martial artist, Iron Fist spent his early years in comics operating on his own before forming some memorable partnerships with the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Power Man.
-
Nemesis: The ultimate Resident Evil bad guy finally emerges as a playable character. The mammoth creature is a bio-organic weapon created by the Umbrella Corporation who relentlessly pursues his targets.
-
Nova: Nova, originating in Nova #1 back in 1976, is a human who was selected to assume the role of Nova Prime prior to the death of alien Rhomann Dey. Using his newly gifted powers following Dey’s death, nova went on to pursue life as a superhero in New York City.
-
Phoenix Wright: The loveable King of the Objection himself is finally making his way into MvC3 after being rumored since the game was originally announced. It will be interesting to see how the protagonist from the Phoenix Wright series plays out in a completely new genre.
-
Rocket Raccoon: What... never heard of him? Most people haven’t but Rocket Raccoon has been around in the Marvel Universe since Marvel Preview #7 back in 1976. The character was created from inspiration obtained from the Beatles song Rocky Raccoon.
-
Strider Hiryu: The master of the blade is back as fans have been begging for Capcom to add the classic character back in the series. Strider made his debut way back in the 80‘s Capcom classic Strider and has been a staple character for company ever since.
-
Vergil: Dante’s twin brother is the polar opposite of his brother. While Dante’s embraces the good in life, Vergil ebraces total darkness and pure evil.
