It is
no secret that
Capcom has some big announcements in store for
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at this week’s Comic-Con, but early rumors may have outed the big surprise. A lot of reports are making their way around the net that Capcom is preparing to reveal a new version of the game entitled Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The new title, which will supposedly be released at a discounted price ($39.99, just like Super Street Fighter IV) will add in both previously released DLC characters and 12 additional fighters.
In addition to both Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath who are currently available as DLC, it is being rumored that some or all of the following characters could be added to the roster:
-
Frank West
-
Mega Man
-
Phoenix Wright
-
M. Bison
-
Doctor Octopus
-
Emma Frost
-
Cyclops
-
Cable
-
Venom
-
Carnage
Those are just some of the rumored names that are floating around; there could be more or perhaps less.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Capcom take this sort of approach to expanded the game as they laid the foundation for the business model with the SF4 series. It will also be interesting to see, if the title ends up being revealed, to see if a downloadable version is offered as was done with SSF4: Arcade Edition. Personally, I would go for the game either way, though a retail release would likely appeal more to me as I would like to pick it up on the Xbox 360 to compliment my PS3 version of the original.
I guess that we will all have to wait until Saturday’s public panel for the game to find out if this is real or just something that hopeful fans have conjured up in their minds...
