2K and Digital Extremes present today the first standalone gameplay video for
The Darkness II. Most of the footage is taken from the demo I
previewed at PAX East, and pretty appropriately displays the kind of cruel and creative ways you can kill your enemies using the unique quad-wielding controls.
You can get a glimpse at protagonist Jackie Estacado overcome by the Darkness as he grabs enemies to tear them apart with his demon arms, or alternatively use his arms to wield the more traditional defensive approach of both a shield and weapons. Although, based on my short time with the game in Boston, I heartily suggest using the demon arms to their full extent.
Take a look at the video below for a glimpse into the storyline, context behind Jackie’s consumption by the Darkness, and what kind of trials you’ll be put through; or, more accurately, what kind of trials you’ll be putting your enemies through.
The Darkness II™ is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2007 release The Darkness. Inspired by the popular comic book series produced by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II is an intense first person shooter that delivers a twisted and gripping narrative of tragedy, modern crime drama, and supernatural horror. Players will be taken down the brutal and personal path of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as the Darkness.
