Batman fans will have more than just Arkham City to keep them occupied later this year as Warner Bros. Interactive has announced a new Caped Crusader-game for the PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network. Gotham City Impostors is a downloadable, firt-person shooter which puts players in the midst of a battle for control of Gotham City.
In the new game, Gotham City has been overrun with impostors who have overtaken the city in the name of either Batman or the Joker. These amateur “vigilantes” or villains, have formed two rival gangs known as the Bats and the Jokerz. Players will be charged with creating their own character in the vain of the leader the swear allegiance to (Batman or The Joker), and can customize them from head to toe. Customization options will range from cosmetic to their arsenal of homebrew gadgets and weapons.
The game will be heavily based on the DC Comics’ established Batman license, but will create a universe all its own. An official website has been launched at www.GothamCityImpostors.com but there isn’t much to see at this point. You can read the full press release of the game’s announcement on the next page.
