I'm a little torn on the fast-approaching future of the Red Faction series. I thought RF: Guerrilla was one of the best sandbox games in recent memory, and now Volition is going back to linear scripted environments with Red Faction Armageddon. The upcoming TV series Red Faction Origins is also taking some liberties I'm not too happy with.
Sure, it's great to have a potentially good game adaptation for once, but the story kind of screws over Alec Mason, Guerrilla's protagonist. Supposedly he leaves Mars only to have pirates kill his wife and kidnap his daughter, and the TV show follows Alec's son Jake in a quest for revenge. I'm a little peeved they just killed off Samanya as a plot device but we'll see how this goes.
