Not too long ago I saw a video online of two Sonic the Hedgehogs running side-by-side, but had no clue what it was for. My first thought was "wow, are they finally doing Sonic 4 Episode 2?". Turns out I was wrong, but this might be even better. Sega has officially announced Sonic Generations to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog's 20th Anniversary.
The story according to the press release is as such. Sonic's universe pretty much gets thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power starts to create time holes, pulling Sonic and company through time. As a result he comes across some surprises from his past including the 1991 Sonic. Who can be behind this diabolical deed? Gee, I have no clue *cough*ROBOTNIK*cough*.
No that's not a spoiler, but if you're a Sonic fan like me that's probably your first guess. Mario's anniversary was a tad let-down with nothing more major than a port of Super Mario All-Stars (though still fun, don't get me wrong, I just wish more was done) and we didn't see much from Zelda (a compilation disc for the Wii would have been awesome). This however has me as hyped up as much as Mega Man 9 and 10, and I was ecstatic for those games. I'm personally looking forward to this around the holidays and can pretty much guarantee I'll be picking up Sonic Generations on day one.
