So much for those SCI rumors that were swirling around the pages of the Daily Telegraph, Reuters is reporting that Elevation Partners has acquired Eidos for $135 million. Eidos accepted the bid earlier today from the company that features U2's Bono on its board of directors. Other rumors indicated that companies such as Ubi Soft and Rupert Murdoch's Newscopr were in the running to purchase the troubled publisher.
Eidos' financial woes were made public earlier this year as the next installment in the
Hitman and
Tomb Raider franchises were pushed back. It was later revealed that Eidos only had enough money to cover operating costs until March 25. After that it would need to be sold or its assets would be liquidated.
