One rock band that has persevered (or maybe they are just super persistent) despite lots of ups and downs is Drowning Pool. They have gone through three singers while producing four albums since their hit single “Bodies” hit airwaves and workout mixes back in 2001. I personally still listen to that song as well as a handful of others from their catalog. As Rock Band Network passes its one-year anniversary, Drowning Pool has been selected as the artist of the month. You can find out more about the band all month long on the Rock Band Network homepage.
Harmonix Names Drowning Pool the Rock Band Network’s April Artist of the Month
Cambridge, Mass. – April 4, 2011 - Harmonix Music Systems today announced that all-American anthemic rockers Drowning Pool are the Rock Band Network’s April Artist of the Month.
“Bodies”, the lead single for Drowning Pool’s debut album, Sinner, is featured as downloadable content in the Rock Band Network Music Store. The Rock Band Network, which celebrated its one-year anniversary in March, gives Rock Band fans and music lovers a new avenue to discover music and provides musicians and labels the opportunity to produce and promote tracks for the Rock Band platform. This ground-breaking initiative gives musicians, publishers and record labels the ability to author their original recordings into gameplay files to promote and sell their music as playable Rock Band tracks through the RBN Store.
The Rock Band Network Artist of the Month program shines a light on standout RBN artists like Drowning Pool who are dedicated to interacting with their fans in new and unique ways, like through Rock Band, and dedicated to the music gaming community. As the April Artist of the Month, Drowning Pool will be featured on the RockBand.com homepage and on http://www.rockband.com/rock-band-network, where fans can read an interview with the band.
Drowning Pool turned the world into believers with their breakthrough single “Bodies” in 2001. Ten years, three singers and four albums later, they’re giving fans a new reason to believe. “Feel Like I Do,” the lead single from their self-titled fourth studio release (Eleven Seven Music), became the band’s biggest radio hit to date, reaching No. 2 at Active Rock Radio, and remaining in the Top 5 for 12 weeks. With 2009’s “37 Stitches” off of Full Circle reaching No. 4 at Active Rock and “Feel Like I Do,” the band had two consecutive Top 5 Active Rock smashes and cemented their place as one of the top hard rock acts today. Recent successes have paved the way for unique opportunities such as presenting the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform to then-senator Barack Obama on Capitol Hill, performing for our troops all over the world and partnering with organizations like The Wounded Warrior Project and the G.I. Film Festival. Drowning Pool are currently playing to packed houses on a headlining U.S. trek. For a complete list of tour dates and more info on the band, please visit www.drowningpool.com.
