The
Official PlayStation Blog has revealed the details of the upcoming multiplayer beta for
SOCOM 4. The beta will be rolled out over the course of the next month and eventually be open to anyone interested in trying out the new squad-based shooter.
The first leg of the beta will kick off on March 15 and will be by invitation only. Sony is handpicking players to participate in the beta and sending out invitations as we speak. One week later, on March 22, PlayStation Plus members will be invited to join in via a free download offered through the PlayStation Store. On March 29, anyone who has received a beta token from the purchase of Killzone 3 will be allowed to enter the fray by redeeming their included code. The last leg will kick off on April 5 and be open to anyone with a PlayStation Network account.
The beta will run through April 13, 2011, a week before the game’s retail release. All of the game’s various multiplayer modes will be included in the beta test as well as two maps from the final release.
