The launch window for
Test Drive Unlimited 2 has been a rough one, filled with network problems, corrupt game saves, and other various bugs. Thankfully, those all appear to have either been fixed (PC version) or are on the way (console) and the developer wants to make up for it by reducing the first planned premium DLC to a discount price of free. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.
The Exploration Pack was planned to be the titles first paid DLC offering but those plans have been scrapped in order to make amends with fans who experienced the difficult launch window. The pack will give players access to the Lancia Stratos Rally Version and 1969 Dodge Charger. Other features will be included in the pack but the specific details have not been outlined.
This brings up a good discussion topic: how do you feel about developers and publishers shipping broken games? This seems to happen more and more now days since the means of distributing fixes via digital distribution is easy for companies within the industry. “Back in my day” this couldn’t be done because the final game product was included on a physical cartridge that had to be in working condition when you left the store... there were no “title updates” or patches available. What makes this okay to do now?
