Over the past couple of weeks, NetherRealm Studios has revealed a variety of “new” characters for the upcoming
Mortal Kombat on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The announcements have come via a variety of media sources including magazine articles and official promotional videos.
The character selection screen of the game, and previous confirmations, indicate that there wil be a total of 26 playable characters included in the initial release of the game. Additional characters will be added later via DLC. As it stands now, the character roster for Mortal Kombat has been confirmed to include:

Kratos will also be included as a playable character in the PlayStation 3 release of the game.
It has also been announced that Blu-ray versions of both Mortal Kombat movies (Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) will be released alongside the game on April 19, 2011. Picking up these movies will also net you a special code which will allow you to unlock Jadess classic costume in the PS3 version of the game. It seems as if the PlayStation 3 version of the game is quickly becoming THE version to get… why is the 360 getting the shaft regarding bonus content on this release?
