It is looking more and more like the beta program for
Gears of War 3 will launch in April. Mike Capps of Epic stated in an interview with
Gamespot this Spring, likely April, is very close to being targeted for the beta test. According to the interview:
“We’ve been saying spring … my guess is it will be sometime around April or so. It’s going to be early enough so it really impacts Gears development, but we want to make sure everyone has the chance to play Bulletstorm before they jump right into the beta.”
Epic recently announced that buyers of Bulletstorm’s Epic Edition will get access to the beta simply for buying the game. Other means of entering the beta will be available, but the details have not been announced. The hopes are that a quality beta test will help Epic eliminate many of the issues and problems that Gears of War 2 faced when it launched.
In other Gears of War 3 news, Cliffy B recently released a few bits of information through his
Twitter feed:
“Look for special unlocks in Gears 3 for those of you who have played other Epic games such as Shadow Complex, UT3, Gears, and Bulletstorm.”
Gamers who have save information for any of those games listed will likely receive bonuses perhaps both in the game and through the Xbox Live Marketplace. It is anyone’s guess as to what these unlocks could entail but it the most likely candidates are exclusive gamerpics and avatar clothing.
