SOEA has announced a release date for both the PC and PlayStation 3 versions of the DC Comics MMORPG
DC Universe Online. The game will launch in North America on January 11, 2011 and 3 days later in Europe.
The title, which is currently undergoing an open beta for all PS+ members allows gamers to create their own super hero or villain and battle the forces of Braniac in order to save the world while joining up with numerous personalities from all across the DC Comics universe. Cross platform play is planned which will allow PC gamers and PS3 players to occupy the same game-world. The game will require a ~$15 / month fee to play the game in addition to the purchase of the actual game though it will come with a 30 day trial. SOEA is also offering a lifetime subscription option for the game in the area of $200.
I have been spending quite a bit of time with the beta and am pretty impressed thus far. MMORPG’s don’t usually hook me, even WoW, but this one keeps me coming back for more. Look for my impressions from the PS3 beta next week and prepare for the full game in just a few short weeks.
