Do you remember
Greed Corp? It's the turn-based strategy game with terrain destruction that was released on XBLA and PSN earlier this year.
Marissa enjoyed the time she spent with it. I, too, have a copy on my PS3 and find it interesting; I've just never had the desire to sit and play this on my TV.
W!Games is finally bringing the game to PC (via Steam) and according to them it's "better than ever." Some of the new features and modifications that it has received in the transition to PC are:
-
Improved tutorial
-
Campaign difficulty tweaked by time limits and a points system
-
The ability to skip to the end of an AI enemy's turn (instead of waiting for it to complete)
-
Steam achievements
Look for Greed Corp next Tuesday on Steam. The press release only has European prices but we can estimate that it will be $10.
Greed Corp - Battle is rejoined!
The award winning turn-based strategy game comes to Steam, better than ever
AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS – 2nd December 2010 – W!Games, part of the Vanguard Entertainment Group, are proud to announce that their innovative, multiple award winning turn-based strategy game Greed Corp, will be released on Steam on 10th December priced at £7.99/€9.99.
Released earlier in 2010 on Xbox LIVE® Arcade and PlayStation®Network to widespread critical acclaim, Greed Corp now arrives on Steam with significant improvements over the console version including an overhauled tutorial, a better balanced campaign, and sped up game AI.
The first in a series of games based in the rich Mistbound Universe, Greed Corp is set in a world of feudal warfare and environmental destruction through industrial consumption. As one of four warring factions your aim is territorial domination, but at what cost? Can you find the delicate balance between harvesting the land for resources and preserving it to stay alive? Will you defend your territory or sacrifice it to keep it out of enemy hands?
Featuring an innovative land collapsing mechanic which constantly alters the strategic landscape, you must destroy your enemies or the very land they stand on before they do it to you. Build Harvesters to reap your land for credits and spend them on armouries and cannons. Manufacture walkers to conquer enemy territory and order carriers to transport your troops across the map. Ultimately, defeat your enemies by eliminating their troops and destroying or capturing their structures.
Key New Features
• Tutorial – completely overhauled to now convey the mechanics, strategies, consequences and overall gameplay nuances required to be successful
• Campaign – the difficulty and level progression requirements have been eased. The time per turn allowed for each faction is now different beginning with unlimited time in the Freemen campaign, the first campaign played. Winning a level is also no longer required to progress with the introduction of a new points based mechanic. Points unlock new maps
• AI – players no longer have to wait for the game AI to finish its turn. Just hit the ‘End Turn’ button
• Steam Integration – full integration of Steam functionality including Steam Achievements
