Nintendo’s upcoming
Mario Sports Mix for the Nintendo Wii is going to bring more than just Mario characters to the proverbial playing field(s). According to some recently released images and information of the Japanese version of the game, the title will also include some special characters from both the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series.
As you can see in the image below, courtesy of the game’s
official Japanese site, it isn’t only the Big N’s mascots that will be tearing it up in basketball, dodgeball, ice hockey, and volleyball.
The game will include the following characters from the two RPG series:
from Final Fantasy
-
Shiroma / White Mage
-
Ninja
-
Kuroma / Black Mage
-
Moogle
-
Cactuar
from Dragon Quest
Gamers will also be able to play as their personalized Mii characters within the game. This isn’t the first time that Nintendo has used some of these characters in their sport games as Mario 3-on-3 for the Nintendo DS also featured a few Final Fantasy characters. It is always nice to see Nintendo pay homage to the titles / series that started with them way back in the 8-bit era.
Mario Sports Mix launches this week in Japan and sometime in 2011 for North America.
