The fine folks at CD Projekt announced today that they now have a firm release date for The Witcher 2. The bad news is that it's a few weeks beyond the Q1 2011 release date we've had for a while, but the good news is that it's only a few weeks as the game will be available on stores on May 17,2011.
We'll have more information on the game later this week as they are holding an online press conference on Wednesday to cover things like what DRM the game will be using, their philosophy of the game, and the number of women Geralt will get to pillage as you play through the game.
The Witcher 2: launch date confirmed! More hot news on the title coming November 18th during CD Projekt conference!
The speculation comes to an end! CD Projekt RED today confirmed the release date of the one of the most-awaited RPG titles of 2011. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is targeted for release on May 17, 2011. Release dates in specific territories may vary, and will be confirmed closer to the date.
“We’ve decided to move the launch date back a few weeks to afford us more time to polish the game” - said Adam Badowski, project lead at CD Projekt RED. “Of course, we know that players would like to get the game as soon as possible, so we hope that they will forgive us! We strongly believe that the extra time spent polishing the title will be well worth the wait”.
There’s more hot news to come during CD Projekt’s autumn conference, which will take place on November 18. What news, you might ask? Most importantly, there will be more detailed information about the approaching worldwide launch of the title, as well as the Collector’s Edition of The Witcher 2. Moreover, CD Projekt RED will present pre-order information from all around the world.
And there won’t be a lack of controversial topics! The developers will explain their philosophy with regards to DRM implementation in their titles and they will let us know how it influenced the edition of the game.
