A familiar voice will be returning to the FPS franchise next month - Jane Runnalls. You might not recognize the name, but her singing was used in Call of Duty: World at War. Returning as Featured Singer for New Video Game and Soundtrack Releasing November 9, 2010
Hollywood, CA – Singer/Voice-Actress JANE RUNNALLS is proving to be Hollywood’s newest ‘go-to’ voice as she is recruited once again for the featured female vocals on the highly anticipated video game “CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS” from ACTIVISION. In addition to the game, Runnalls’ lyrical beauty will be heard on the Black Ops soundtrack available at Amazon.com and iTunes beginning November 9, 2010.
Black Ops is the seventh installment in this blockbuster first-person shooter franchise and marks the third Activision title for Runnalls, which include “Call of Duty: World at War” and “True Crime: New York City.” The songstress is quickly becoming renowned among composers and filmmakers for her sonorous voice, astounding vocal adaptability, and unshakeable work ethic.
A classically trained lyric soprano, Runnalls sings with a full orchestra to support the complex Black Ops original musical score written and composed by Sean Murray. To create the unique and mysterious vocals, some of the texts heard in the songs are actually phonetically transcribed from old Bulgarian chants.
Runnalls comments, "The music you'll hear in Black Ops is darker, grittier, and a lot scarier. It will definitely have you at the edge of your seat! In addition to singing original music for feature films, film trailers, video games, and television, Runnalls also co-founded and participates in “Songs for Smiles,” which brings uplifting musical programs to terminally ill Hospice patients throughout Los Angeles County. Runnalls is also proud to have performed as a featured soloist in Immediate Music’s 2009 concert, “Trailer Music Live,” and of her work on the Julie Andrews project, “Simeon’s Gift,” with producer Ian
Fraser.
Growing up in the artistic seaside community of Santa Cruz, California allowed Runnalls the freedom to engage in music at an early age. Enrolling in piano, flute and music theory all by the age of eight, she had found her passion and began winning numerous solo performance competitions throughout Northern California. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of California, Riverside, and earned two prestigious internships: first as artistic assistant to Tim Robbins at his Actor’s Gang theater group, and was later cast by Robbins in the plays, “The Seagull” and “Mephisto”; and then she landed the opportunity to work as an assistant in the Artist Department to Esa-Pekka Salonen with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
After graduating she began studying opera with world-acclaimed tenor and teacher Dr. William Johns, and was later chosen as one of 30 young singers internationally to participate in Ann Baltz’s renowned training program, OPERAWORKS.
Now that Hollywood has discovered Runnalls’ captivating vocal talent, it won’t be long before she leaps off the screen and into a prominent solo career.
