Square Enix’s next step in the MMO world,
Final Fantasy XIV was supposed to start its open-beta phase on September 1, 2010. Unfortunately, the beta was postponed to a unspecified date at the last minute due to “critical bugs”. The problems must not have been that major as the beta has been announced to be launching on September 2, 2010.
Interested players can register and obtain the beta client through Square Enix’s
beta site for the game. The beta process will commence at 02:00 GMT tomorrow, on a fist come, first serve basis. There are a limited number of slots available in the open beta test, so you may have to check back in with the client at different times to snag an open spot. I am really looking forward to seeing what improvements have been made with
Final Fantasy XIV over XI... which I was a huge fan of. Sorry, I know that most people didn’t care for the first Final Fantasy MMO, but I did.
The full version of the game launches next month for the PC and roughly next March for the PlayStation 3.
