The CEO of
Netflix, Reed Hastings made some comments recently that mention that the PlayStation 3 version of the
Netflix video streaming of the service would be going disc free very, very soon.
The quote was reported originally on
Shacknews. Hastings noted that the PS3 Netflix interface would be getting an updated interface that will no longer require the disc currently used and also support dynamic updates of the users’ queues. Wii users won’t be as lucky due to the shortage of internal memory in the system. While no specific dates were given, Hastings said the update is expected prior to the October earnings call for the company.
