Quite a ways back, it was announced that Keiji Inafune himself would be making a film version of Capcom’s Dead Rising. Now that we are just a few short months away from the release of the highly anticipated second game, Dead Rising 2, it turns out that the movie isn’t that far behind.
The movie, entitled Zombrex Dead Rising Sun, will be released as a series which is split up into 8 seperate episodes and will be distributed for free via Xbox Live and possibly PSN. The short film(s) tell the tale of two brothers trying to escape the zombie outbreak in Japan. The story is told and presented as an homage to classic zombie films as well as to the game(s). Inspired by the world of Dead Rising, Zombrex Dead Rising Sun will be released digitally in a series of eight episodes which Dead Rising and zombie movie fans can watch for free. Featuring an English voice over, the episodes will also be available as separate versions with French, Spanish and Italian subtitles.
Written and directed by Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s global head of research and development, Zombrex Dead Rising Sun follows two brothers as they try to escape the zombie outbreak that has hit Japan. Exploring the darker side of human nature and filmed entirely on location in Japan, Zombrex Dead Rising Sun, both pays homage to the zombie movies of the 1960s and ‘70s and provides links with the videogame world of Dead Rising.
