Nintendo knows that they struck gold the first time that they threw Mario into a sports game... and you better believe that they will ride that wave until it ends. In case your wandering, I think that is a good thing. That trend is continuing with Nintendo’s next Mario-sports title, Mario Sports Mix.
The new game is scheduled to launch in 2011 and rather than focusing on a single activity, will allow Mario and other Nintendo mascots to participate in four separate sports: volleyball, ice hockey, dodgeball, and basketball. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am that someone is finally making a Mario dodgeball game... talk about long overdue.
Like all of the Mario Sports titles we have seen previously, Nintendo’s version(s) of the games won’t be confined by the typical rules and regulations. This is the world of Mario, and you can expect courts filled with power ups and traps as well as super abilities for all of the characters involved.
All of your favorite Nintendo characters seem to be along for the rise as well, including: Mario, Bowser, Peach, Yoshi, Diddy Kong, and perhaps some new surprises as well. The game will be released next year, so until then check out the official trailer from Nintendo.
