It looks like after all of the years of snide remarks shot back and forth from one another, Sony and Valve have kissed and made up. Gabe Newell gave a speech at Sony’s E3 to reveal that Valve would be bringing not only Portal 2, but Steam to the PlayStation 3.
Now, if you are like me, you are wondering exactly what is meant by the fact that Steam is coming to the PS3. Newell mentioned that the platform would take advantage of such things as Steam Cloud and automatic titles updates as well as friend(s) organization and communication. I don’t particularly expect the Steam on PS3 to act as a game distribution platform, but more as a support mechanism for games. Gabe concluded his speech by assuring the audience that the PS3 version of Portal 2 would be, undoubtedly, the best console version available. I wonder how MS reacted to that statement.
Just as Gabe ended his portion of the conference, I will end this news posting by giving you a glimpse at the first trailer for the upcoming Portal 2, which will launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2011.
