If the
GoldenEye 007 remake announcement wasn't enough to send your Nintendo 64 nostalgia senses into meltdown, chew on this: both
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and
Star Fox 64 will be getting full remakes on the DS. From the looks of these early screens, the games will be getting a graphics and control overhaul in addition to the obligatory 3D effects.
If you'll recall, Nintendo did basically the same thing with Mario 64 for the launch of the original DS, with mixed results due to the garish lack of an analog stick. I think I was one of the only people who enjoyed that admittedly flawed port more than the N64 original, just by sheer volume of new content. Still that doesn't change the fact that the 3DS is much better equipped to handle these remakes, which makes this news about a thousand times more awesome. It's also nice to know that Nintendo hasn't completely forgotten about Fox and his team. Can you imagine doing a barrel roll in 3D? Gives me chills just thinking about it.
