The Rock Band franchise will surely be receiving some interesting news over the upcoming month in terms of the latest announced installment, but for now you can hear about the DLC that is planned. Available from June 1st, the Rock Band Music Store will be featuring 4 tracks of Spoon's for their debut on Rock Band and a single from P.O.D. I'm a huge Spoon fan, and frankly surprised that the indie rock band didn't make it onto the roster sooner. Better late than never.
Cambridge, Mass. – May 28, 2010 – Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that indie rock favorites Spoon and alternative metal rockers P.O.D. will make their debuts in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.
With more than 400 artists, including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, AC/DC and Green Day, who are exclusive to Rock Band, as well as more than 1,200 songs available through the Rock Band platform and 68 million songs sold through its download store alone, Rock Band is the undisputed sales and content leader in the interactive music space, providing the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums.
Rock Band DLC additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Wii
Indie rock heavy hitters Spoon will make their Rock Band debut next week with a four pack of songs spanning the band’s career. “Trouble Comes Running” and “Got Nuffin” will both be added to the Rock Band Music Store from the band’s seventh studio release, Transference, which hit shelves January 2010 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Spoon Pack 01 will also include “I Turn My Camera On” from 2005’s Gimme Fiction, which was ranked by Rhapsody as No. 19 of the 100 Best Albums of the Decade; as well as “Don’t You Evah” from 2007’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, which was named in the Top 10 of both Pitchfork and Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Albums of 2007. Spoon is currently on a world tour in support of Transference.
Alternative metal rockers P.O.D. will also make their Rock Band debut next week with “Alive,” from the band’s fourth album, Satellite. It was released in September 2001 and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Satellite became the band’s best-selling album, selling more than 3 million copies in the United States, and “Alive” garnered a Grammy® Award nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance. P.O.D. have said that they are recording a new album, due out in 2010.
