Today I received an interesting package in the mail, a plain envelope with a 1 GB USB drive in it. The drive contained two files. A readme.txt file which contained the following:
"Cryptography
Isotope
Philanthropy
Hydrogen
Ember
Rebirth"
The first letter from each word spells out CIPHER which is a bit obvious I guess. Not sure if there's another meaning there or not.
The second was a MP3 file (station.mp3) which you can listen to
here.
The MP3 has the following code embedded in it's comment section:
00000000 00000210 00000825 000000000037474B 00000000 0016FDA0 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000
The folks at
Joystiq got the same package and managed to unearth an odd
website with a TV as well as an encoded message of "APRIL WEEK TWO" The Joystiq folk also think that the Maryland postmark indicates the game is from Bethesda and is for
Brink or
Fallout: New Vegas but personally I think it might be for Activision's upcoming game
Singularity. I can't explain why but it feels like the existing ARG they launched for the game last year. New Vegas also makes sense as the words Rebirth and Hydrogen seem like good pointers for that game. I'm probably wrong but let me know what you think in the comment section.
