I, like many people, have had some serious doubts since Capcom announced that they were bringing
Street Fighter IV to the iPhone. After seeing the recently released videos of the game in action over at
IGN, consider me a believer. My initial beliefs that the game could not possibly run in any manner even remotely similar to the quality of the original versions have been put to rest. The game looks phenomenal. While I do have reservations as to how the controls will play out in the touch format, but only time and experience will answer those questions for me.
Thanks to an article from
Gamepro we now have some specific details on the forthcoming iPhone brawler. The game will cost players $9.99 and consist of eight playable characters. The confirmed roster for the came consists of the following:
- Abel
- Bison
- Blanka
- Chun-Li
- Dhalsim
- Guile
- Ken
- Ryu
Visually, the game looks spot on... or at least as close as one would expect for a portable version. This could be the best looking iPhone game that we have seen yet. I am a little ways from considering myself pleased with the choice of playable characters as I would have liked to have seen more of the new characters utilized. Granted, they did include Abel, but he is perhaps the least known face in the batch of new guys. It would have made more sense to at least include C. Viper, but no... we get the dud of the new crew (popularity speaking). I don't mean to sound ungrateful though, I think that the game will be a blast as it is as long as the controls play out.
