The PC version of
Alan Wake has been
officially canceled so that the developers can focus on creating a proper console experience. Here's the money quote from Strategy Informer:
"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform."
I don't want to call BS but this is BS. I get that the game is using a TV metaphor but this reeks of Microsoft not wanting to spend the money to port the game to the PC or have to support it post launch. It's a psychological thriller game and honestly it's something I'd rather play within the "intimate" confines of my PC rather than on my big screen TV ....feh.
