Long known for his uber geekdom and a fixture at PAX, Comic Con and other events,
Wil Wheaton confirmed on his Twitter page that he will be the Keynote speaker at the
PAX East event in March. Wheaton is both an accomplished actor and writer, but he has always stuck close to the video game world, lending his voice to several game franchises including Grand Theft Auto, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. Most recently, he has been playing a recurring role as the villain Fawkes in the online series “The Guild”.
This is a huge win for all the attendees of the event. If you haven’t had the pleasure to
follow him on Twitter (he was one of the very first celebrities to embrace the site…he just gets it), as it is a very entertaining feed. I am sorry I will not be able to attend and hear Wheaton’s comments. It should be a good time for all.
Gamer Geek Icon Wil Wheaton To Keynote PAX East in March in Boston
BOSTON – Feb. 9, 2010 – Wil Wheaton -- celebrated gamer geek, D&D nerd and reoccurring villain Fawkes on The Guild – will bring his distinctive take on gaming to PAX East, Friday, March 26 – Sunday, March 28 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
A frank and elegant speaker on video gamer culture, Wil has been a perennial favorite of PAX attendees. His keynote at PAX Prime 2007 is still one of the most talked about in the history of the show.
“We’ve always considered Wil as the keynote speaker for PAX, so it’s only appropriate he kick off the first PAX East,” said Robert Khoo of Penny Arcade. “Wil is one of us. We accept him. Wil speaks to all gamers, from the console jock to the keyboard fanatic to the pen-and-paper devotees.”
The PAX East festival will bring gamers from all over the United States and points beyond together for three days of celebration of gaming culture. The Boston show will be jammed with panel discussions, concerts, tournaments and an exhibitor hall filled with the latest new games for pen-and-paper, tabletop, CCG, PC and console video game fans.
Show organizers want to remind all attendees to help create an enjoyable experience for everyone by obeying Wheaton’s Law: Don’t Be a Dick.
