Well, it took a while but we might have seen the
PlayStation 3 finally hacked. George Hotz, who has dome some hacking on the iPhone, has made a
post saying that he's got dumps of LV0, LV1, and the NAND all without any mod chips. What does this mean for those wanting to modify their PS3? Not much yet.
There still needs to be some reverse engineering involved to see what the software does. He says that the exploit can't be but Sony can make it harder. Sony's been one of the companies that have been pretty good about securing their systems and it has taken over three years for someone to get to this point. George needed 5 weeks to get through. Now, we'll have to see how long before the procedure to use this is published and how easy it is for folks to hack their console.
