All of the recent news regarding both Sega's decision to cease pursuing M rated games on the Wii is really disappointing news. While I can understand, business wise, that games like
MadWorld and House of the Dead Overkill didn't sell well enough to warrant a future investment in those lines, as a gamer I have been left longing for more. Those two games in particular are very high on my list of favorite games for this generation, especially
MadWorld. It appears as though the director of the original
Madworld feels exactly the same way. According to a news story on
Joystiq, Shigenori Nishikawa of Platinum Games has been quoted as saying that he and his team would love to continue the
MadWorld series. In an interview with the Official Nintendo Magazine in an upcoming issue, Nishikawa is quoted as saying, "We would definitely be interested in making a sequel in the future." I hope that the crew over at Platinum Games decides to go ahead and move forward with any plans that they may have to take Jack back to the streets as I am sure that they could easily find a publisher for the project. Who knows, maybe even Sega could change their mind and decide to go ahead and greenlight such a project despite their recent position change... let's hope so...
