While attending Digital Experience, John and I stopped by the
EA Mobile booth to get some hands on with recent releases and get the info on a couple of upcoming titles.
We started with a couple of released games that neither of us had played yet.
Rock Band and
Dragon’s Lair. Rock Band plays as cool as it looks, and should be a must-have for any Rock Band fan. I played the bass for ‘Simple Man’ from Lynyrd Skynyrd and quickly picked up the speed and tempo. I can say that if you go on the hardest setting, your fingers will literally be flying over the iPhone’s screen to keep up.
Dragon’s Lair looks as good to me as it did in the arcade 25+ years ago. Don Bluth (the original animator) helped with the project. John did the demo, and showed that after 25 years he still sucks at the game. Thankfully he was wasting quarters this time, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt because he travelled all day and probably was just tired.
The titles yet to release are Spore Creatures and
The Sims 3 World Adventures. In
Spore Creatures, you now are on land and your spore will be given some options such as whether he wants to be a punk and eat everyone, or be Mr. Nice Guy and make friends. As for The Sims 3 World Adventures, this was built from the ground up as a standalone title and is not an expansion pack. The cool thing is that you will be able to import your Sims 3 characters between versions of the game on the iPhone and iPod Touch and take them to Egypt, France and China.
The Sims 3 World Adventures is due out in February 201, while Spore Creatures is TBD.
