With
Microsoft’s
latest job posting, it looks like they’ll be coming up on their promise of “Live Anywhere” slowly but surely.
The job posting is looking for a Principal Program Manager to work specifically on LIVE Engagement. The idea is to extend the LIVE experience beyond the 360 and “bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile.”
This Program Manager is going to have to bring some forward thinking to the table given that
Microsoft is asking for someone to develop ideas on “what makes gaming experiences ‘LIVE Enabled’ through aspects such as avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences.”
I’ve been looking for a good iPhone application with the social features of Xbox LIVE integrated onto a similar interface. They’ve got some out there, but so far none that I’ve seen with an uploaded list of friends, messaging system, etc. Even more interesting with the vague plans
Microsoft has here for the Windows Mobile is the idea of a “multi-screen experience.”
The “Live Anywhere” concept could possibly emerge (at least on some form of a mobile platform) through this new position being filled. Gaming across platforms on your mobile device and accessing game info, too, sound pretty appealing.
Honestly, I’d be happy with a first small step of the social integration (iPhone version, please) to tide us over until the forward thinking gets going on how to integrate Xbox LIVE enabled games onto your mobile platform. I’m also hoping that this expands beyond the Windows Mobile.
