With 2010 rapidly approaching the folks at Crispy Gamer ran a survey of their user base to determine which game was the most significant of the last 10 years. The final showdown was between
Half Life 2 and
World of Warcraft with
Half Life 2 squeezing out a narrow victory.
I find it hard to disagree with the outcome (which shouldn't surprise you if you read the site) as
Half Life 2 was one of the first game to use realistic physics, the first game that was primarily distributed through digital means, as well as a host of other innovations in story telling and game play. The game is fairly close to perfect (some of the boat stuff still feels a bit like filler) and the game still holds up compared to other modern shooters.
